Nelle Barriteau Joins Women's Gymnastics Coaching Staff

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's gymnastics coach Doug Day announced the hiring of Nelle Barriteau as an assistant coach. Barriteau, a former Falcon gymnast who previously spent the 2007-08 seasons as the team's military assistant, will begin her duties today (Oct. 1) as a full-time civilian coach.
Barriteau joins a coaching staff that includes Day, who is in his fourth year as the Falcons' head coach, and Holly Tedeschi, who is beginning her 10th season as an assistant with the Falcons. In addition, Lynn Day returns for her third year as a volunteer coach and the club's choreographer.
In addition to her duties with the Falcons, Barriteau is a Level 4-8 USA Gymnastics judge and travels around the state of Colorado, judging area meets for younger gymnasts. Prior to her first stint on the Falcons' coaching staff, Barriteau had coached club gymnastics for three years.
While in the military, Barriteau was assigned to the Scheduling and Grading Division of the Academy's athletic department and taught water survival, tennis and volleyball. Barriteau had also served as a personnelist at Buckley AFB, Colo., and Pope AFB, N.C. In 2005, she was deployed to Al Udeid AB, Qatar, as an assistant PERSCO team chief.
Originally from Iowa City, Iowa, Barriteau spent the 1998-99 seasons as a member of the Falcons' gymnastics team. She graduated from the Academy in 2001, with a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and a minor in French.
Barriteau and her husband, Kristoffer, have one son, Casey, who will turn two in November. Her hobbies include going on road trip adventures and taking family trips to the park to play and hike.
