USAFA, Colo. - Air Force senior K.J. Landgraf (Cordova, Md.) was named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week for games through March 1, as announced today by the conference. It is the first career conference honor for Landgraf, and the first conference honor for a Falcon this season.
Landgraf scored a career-high six goals on Sunday to help lead Air Force to a 15-5 victory over Sacred Heart on day two of the Pioneer Face-Off Classic, hosted by Denver. The 10-goal margin of victory for the Falcons was their largest since a 24-3 win over Colorado College in 1997. Meanwhile, the 15 goals were the most scored by Air Force since a 16-9 victory over Quinnipiac in 2007.
Landgraf, who entered the contest with just six career goals, tallied five of his game-high six scores in the opening half, as the Falcons took an 11-2 lead into the break. Named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the weekend, Landgraf also tallied six ground balls and a caused turnover over the two-game stretch. He now ranks second on the team in goals scored on the season with seven.
The Falcons return to action this weekend, March 7, when they travel to West Point, N.Y., to take on service-academy rival Army.
