USAFA, Colo. - Air Force junior Ridge Flick (Plano, Texas) has been named the Great Western Lacrosse League Player of the Week for games through April 26, as announced today by the conference. It is the second weekly conference honor of the season for Flick. It also marks the fourth conference honor for a Falcon this season.
Flick matched a career-high five points to help lead Air Force to a 10-7 victory over conference rival Denver in the team's regular-season finale. He scored one goal and a career-best four assists against the Pioneers as the Falcons notched their first win over Denver since the 2002 season.
Flick, who is the team's leading scorer on the year with 34 points and a team-high 18 assists, has scored at least one assist in 10 games this season and multiple assists in six of those 10 contests, including the Denver game.
The win over the Pioneers marked the fourth-straight victory for Air Force, which ended the regular season with a 7-6 overall record. The Falcons also secured their best-ever GWLL record with a 4-1 league mark. Air Force also locked up second place in the league standings, its best finish in the conference since the 1995 season, when it finished second with a 3-1 record in the league.
This weekend, the Falcons will head to Birmingham, Mich., for the GWLL Tournament, where they enter as the second seed. Air Force will take on third-seed Ohio State in the second semi-final, slated for 7:30 p.m. (ET) on May 1.
