Air Force Releases 2009 Water Polo Schedule

USAFA, Colo. - Highlighted by the "East Meets West" Tournament held at the Academy, the 2009 Air Force water polo schedule was released today by Air Force head coach Jeff Ehrlich. The Falcons' home tournament will take place Sept. 12-13 at the Cadet Natatorium for Air Force's only home contests of the season.
The Falcons open the season at the annual Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, Sept. 5-6. After spending the next weekend back in Colorado for its first and only home dates of the year, Air Force heads back out to the West Coast Sept. 19-20 for the NorCal Tournament, hosted this year by Stanford.
Air Force travels to Claremont, Calif., for the Convergence Tournament, hosted by Pomona-Pitzer, Oct. 2-4. The Falcons then switch coasts, heading out East to Annapolis, Md., where they will face Brown, George Washington, Johns Hopkins and host Navy, Oct. 17-18. The last regular-season tournament of the season for Air Force will occur Oct. 24-25, when it visits Santa Clara, while the Falcons wrap up the regular season Nov. 7-8 with four Western Water Polo Association match-ups in Southern California, visiting Loyola Marymount, Chapman, La Verne and Claremont.
The 2009 WWPA Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 20-22 in Orange, Calif., as Chapman plays host. The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, hosted by Princeton, Dec. 5-6.
