Matthew Selby Named MWC Scholar-Athlete

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force lacrosse player Matthew Selby was one of a league-record 548 individuals named a Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete for the 2008-09 season, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon. Selby, a native of Eagan, Minn., is a rising sophomore who carries a 3.52 GPA. Selby saw action in two contests during his freshman campaign.

The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
