USAFA, Colo. - Air Force senior water polo player Alex Churnside (Orange, Calif.) was named an honorable mention All-America selection by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC), as released by the organization on Friday. Churnside becomes the 16th water polo player in school history to receive All-America recognition.

Meanwhile, his 131 career assists are second-most in school history, just five shy of the Academy record. He also ranks third all-time in Air Force history in career steals with 198.
A first-team All-WWPA selection in 2009, Churnside ranked second on the team with 86 points, including a team-high and career-high 49 assists. He helped lead the Falcons to an 18-14 overall record, the team's highest win total and win percentage since the 2003 season.
