Air Force Falls to Idaho State, 68-58

POCATELLO, Idaho - Despite shooting a season-high 45 percent from the field, he Air Force women's basketball team dropped a 68-58 road contest to Idaho State Thursday evening at Reed Gym. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 1-2 on the season, while the Bengals improve to 2-1 on the year.
Sophomore Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) led Air Force with 12 points, while Kelsey Berger (So., Mentor, Ohio) and Caitlin Boal (Fr., Albuquerque, N.M.) finished with 11 points each. Senior Raimee Beck (Blackfoot, Idaho), playing in front of a hometown crowd, added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. With her 10 points, Beck moved into second place at the Academy's Division I scoring list and ninth all-time in school history.
Idaho State took the early lead in the game, grabbing a 13-9 advantage at the 14:14 mark. However, Air Force went on a 14-0 run over the next six minutes to take the lead. The Falcons were ahead by as many as 12 points in the first half, but the Bengals came back with a spurt of their own to cut the margin to 37-33 at the half.
After the break, Idaho State continued its momentum, and with a 14-2 run of their own, led 57-47 with 10:30 left to play. With the Falcons' offense going cold, the Bengals extended their lead to 14 points before closing out the game with a 10-point victory.
Air Force shot 45.3 percent from the field, including 59.3 percent in the opening half, but cooled off in the second half. Meanwhile, Idaho State held a slight edge on the boards, outrebounding the Falcons, 31-30, and knocked down eight three-pointers in the game.
The Falcons wrap up their road trip on Saturday, as they travel to Portland, Ore., to take on Portland in a 2:00 p.m. (PT) contest.
