Falcons Finish Fourth in USAG National Qualifer

DENTON, Texas - Tallying a score of 185.925, the Air Force women's gymnastics team placed fourth in the preliminary session of competition at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in Denton, Texas, on Thursday (April 15) afternoon. Sophomore Jenna Dudley paced the Falcons with the top scores on the vault, bars and floor, en route to a fourth-place finish in the all-around (37.550).
Dudley's best finishes of the day were eighth-place scores on the uneven bars (9.550) and floor exercise (9.650). The sophomore tied with freshman Brittany Calley for the team-leading eighth-place score on the floor exercise. Dudley also led the Falcons on the vault, tallying a 9.550 to place 10th.
In addition to her team-leading tie on the floor exercise, Calley also placed within the top six in the all-around with a score of 37.250 (sixth). She picked up additional top-20 finishes on the vault (9.450, 15th) and balance beam (9.000, 20th).
Junior Lisa Wong was the Falcons' other event leader, tallying a 9.450 to finish 17th on the balance beam. Wong also collected an 18th-place score of 9.475 on the floor exercise. Air Force earned two additional top-10 finishes from classmate Brittany Dutton, who amassed a 9.525 on the uneven bars to finish ninth, while senior captain Aftan Boudreaux finished 10th with a score of 9.475. Dutton added a 16th-place score of 9.525 on the floor exercise, while fellow junior Holland Davis placed 19th on the uneven bars with a score of 9.225.
Bridgeport (192.575) and Rutgers (189.400) advanced out of the afternoon qualifier and will compete for the team title tomorrow night. The USAG meet continues this evening with the second preliminary session. Once those scores have been tallied, Air Force will find out which individuals will advance to the event finals on Saturday, April 17.
