Falcons Conclude Action at CSU-Pueblo Invitational

PUEBLO, Colo. - With a first-place finish in the 1500-meter run, Air Force senior Katie Anderson paced the members of the track and field team that competed at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational on Saturday, April 17, in Pueblo, Colo. Anderson was one of four Falcons to finish within the top seven on that race.
Anderson clocked a season-best time of 4:53.33 to win the 1500-meter run, while junior Katherine Ward claimed a fifth-place time of 4:58.69. Freshman Melissa Fuerst and sophomore Katie Carroll rounded out the scoring with respective finishes of sixth (5:00.87) and seventh (5:02.31). The men's squad also accounted for a pair of scoring finishes in that distance, as freshmen Donald Jackson and Sam O'Hair clocked matching times of 4:12.36 to tie for sixth. Jackson's time was a career-best.
Freshman Wyatt Warnick was the runner-up in the javelin throw, recording a distance of 170'7", while classmate Matt Cooper tied for second in the pole vault (career-best, 14'9"). On the women's side, freshman Pia Goodman placed fifth in the pole vault with a clearance of 10'8".
Freshman Chad LIscar finished third in the 100-meter dash (career-best 11.05) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (career-best 22.35). Classmate Dan Gieck picked up a fourth-place, career-best time of 57.16 to finish fourth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Air Force earned fifth-place finishes in the 800-meter run from senior Andy Schweitzer (1:57.89) and freshman Dominique Amor (2:26.95) in the respective men's and women's races. Freshmen Zak Boston and Cale Snider finished seventh in their respective events. Boston clocked a time of 10:25.37 in his 3000-meter steeplechase debut, while Snider crossed the finish line of the 400-meter dash in 51.31.
Daniel Walker ran the 100-meter dash in a career-best time of 11.31 to place eighth, while Devon Ford earned the same placement in the 200-meter sprint (22.86). Anthony Delgado rounded out the Falcons' scorers with an eighth-place time of 51.33 in the 400-meter dash.
The Falcons will split up for a pair of meets next weekend. Select Falcons will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the prestigious Drake Relays, while the rest of the squad travels to Laramie, Wyo., for a dual meet with their conference foes.
