Air Force Falls to Wyoming on the Road

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Air Force women's basketball team dropped a 96-54 decision to Wyoming Saturday afternoon at Arena Auditorium. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 6-12 overall on the season and 1-4 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Cowgirls improve to 14-4 overall, 4-1 in the MWC.
Raimee Beck (Sr., Blackfoot, Idaho) and Dymond James (So., Brambleton, Va.) led the Falcons with 11 points each, while freshman Michelle Ivey (Stone Mountain, Ga.) tallied seven points and a team-high five rebounds in her debut.
Air Force started the game out strong, leading the Cowgirls 15-10 at the 15:22 mark. However, Wyoming went on a 19-0 run over a span of 10 minutes to gain a 14-point advantage. Beck broke the Falcons scoring drought with just over five minutes to play in the period, but the Cowgirls went into the intermission with a 44-31 advantage.
Wyoming, which averaged just over 13 turnovers per contest, had 10 first-half turnovers, but attempted 23 free throws before the break, as the Falcons were whistled for 16 fouls in the first half alone.
The Cowgirls pulled away after the break, shooting more than 64 percent in the half. Meanwhile, Air Force shot less than 27 percent to fall further behind.
Air Force finished the game with a season-high 31 fouls and were outrebounded, 45-29, for the game.
The Falcons are back at home for their next two games, starting with a contest versus Colorado State on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 6:00 p.m. The game will be televised live on The Mtn., as Air Force invites fans to "Pack the House" in a nationwide attendance challenge.
