This Week Air Force (3-2-2, 2-0-1 AHA) hosts Sacred Heart (0-6, 0-2 AHA), Friday-Saturday, Nov. 4-5, at Cadet Ice Arena. The Falcons and Pioneers play at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and at 7:35 on Saturday.
Time Change The game against Sacred Heart on Saturday, Nov. 5, will start at 7:35 (not the usual 7:05) because the football team is hosting Army that same day at 1:30 in Falcon Stadium. The time change allows fans and gameday personnel additional time between events.
Radio/Internet/Television All games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on The Sports Animal AM 1300 and on the internet at www.GoAirForceFalcons.com Pregame show begins 30 minutes before faceoff each day. Jay Ritchie will call the play-by-play while Dave Toller will be the color analyst. All games will be video streamed with audio by America One Television. The Rankings Air Force is currently receiving votes both major national polls (USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine). AFA was also receiving votes in both national preseason polls and has been receiving votes in at least one poll every week this season.
Unbeaten Streak Air Force's five-game unbeaten streak is tied as the fourth longest active streak in the nation. AFA is 3-0-2 in the last four games, the team's longest streak since winning eight straight late last season.
Undefeated in League Air Force is 2-0-1 in Atlantic Hockey for the first time since joining the league in 2006-07. The three-game unbeaten streak to open league play is the longest since the 2008-09 season. AFA opened AHA play that year with an 11-0 record.
Scouting the Pioneers Sacred Heart is 0-6 overall this season and 0-2 in the league with losses to Bentley and AIC. The Pioneers opened the season with four straight road losses to Minnesota (currently ranked fifth) and Clarkson (receiving votes). Freshman forward Brian Sheehan leads the team with four goals and five points. Senior Matt Gingera has two goals and two assists. Freshman Andrew Bodnarchuk has seen the most action in the nets with a 5.41 goals-against average and a .851 saves percentage. The Pioneers have been out-scored, 37-9, this season.
The Series vs. Sacred Heart AFA and Sacred Heart have played 25 times and AFA leads the series, 15-6-4 The teams played four times last season and AFA was 2-1-1 vs. the Pioneers with both wins coming in the AHA Quarterfinals at Cadet Ice Arena AFA is 10-1-2 vs. Sacred Heart at the Academy, including a current five-game winning streak in Colorado Just three of the last 11 games have been decided by two goals or less
