INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Air Force senior Brittany Dutton was selected to compete at the NCAA Regional Championship, the NCAA office announce this evening (March 21). Dutton will make her third appearance in four years at the regional meet, which will be held at Magness Arena in Denver on Saturday, April 2.
With an all-around regional qualifying average of 38.160, Dutton is ranked third among the individual all-around competitors, behind Utah State's Jackie Dillon and Lyndsie Boone. In addition, freshman Linnaea Hance was selected as an alternate in the all-around, while junior Samantha Jones was chosen as the alternate on the vault.
Six teams, five all-around competitors who aren't on a regional qualifying team and one specialist per event, who is not on a qualifying team or selected as an all-around competitor were named to each of the six regions - Denver, Tuscaloosa, Corvallis, Ann Arbor, Norman and Athens.
The six full squads that were selected to compete at the Denver Regional are top-ranked Florida, No. 12 Arkansas, No. 13 Boise State, No. 19 Denver, No. 20 Arizona and BYU. Individual athletes, including the remaining all-around competitors, event specialists and alternates are from Utah State, Wisconsin-La Crosse and Wisconsin-Stout.
Dutton, who will compete with Boise State during the meet, opens the night on a bye, before rotating to floor exercise, vault, bye, uneven bars and balance beam. This will be the same rotation that Dutton followed last weekend, en route to her first conference title on the balance beam.
Regional action begins at 6 p.m., at Magness Arena in Denver, on April 2.
