This Week Air Force (10-7-4, 8-4-3 AHA) travels to West Point, N.Y., for a two-game league series with Army (2-13-6 overall and 1-11-4 in the AHA), Friday-Saturday, Jan. 20-21. Friday's game starts at 7:35 ET while Saturday's starts at 7:05 ET. AFA is in third place in the AHA with 19 points while Army is in 11th place with six points.
Radio/Internet All games will be broadcast in Colorado Springs on The Sports Animal AM 1300 and on the internet at www.GoAirForceFalcons.com. Pregame show begins 30 minutes before faceoff each day. Jay Ritchie will call the play-by-play while Dave Toller will be the color analyst. All AHA games and all home games will be video streamed with audio by America One Television. Scouting the Army Black Knights Army is 2-13-6 overall and 1-11-4 for 11th place in the AHA. The Black Knights have lost four straight to Canisius (home) and Niagara (road). Army is looking for its first home win of the season (0-6-2 at Tate Rink). Army has struggled offensively, averaging just 1.62 goals per game to rank 12th in the AHA and 56th in the nation. Army has scored just 34 goals in 21 games this season. Junior forward Andy Starczewski leads the team with eight goals. Starczewski and senior forward Mike Hull are tied for the team lead with 12 points. Junior Ryan Leets and freshman Rob Tadazak have rotated every other game in goal since early November. Leets has a 3.31 GAA and a .902 saves percentage. Tadazak has a 3.00 GAA and a .919 saves percentage
Series vs. Army AFA and Army have played 53 times and AFA holds a 30-20-3 lead in the series that began in 1976. AFA has won three of the last four in the series. Just four of the 53 games have gone into overtime (ties in 1990, 1997 and 2010 and the Army win in 2005). Fifteen games have been decided by one goal and nine by two goals. In games when there were four or more combined goals, AFA is 27-11-3. In games when less than four combined goals are scored, Air Force is 3-9. Air Force's last win at West Point was in 2004. Road Warriors Air Force plays eight of final 12 regular-season games on the road. After back-to-back trips to Army (West Point, N.Y.) and Canisius (Buffalo, N.Y.), the Falcons host RIT on Feb. 3-4.Air Force then travels to Niagara (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) on Feb. 10-11. After a home series with Mercyhurst, AFA concludes the regular season at Robert Morris (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
