Linnaea Hance Paces Falcons with Two First-Place Marks

DAVIS, Calif. - Despite a share of two event titles from sophomore Linnaea Hance, the Air Force women's gymnastics team dropped a 191.450-185.750 decision to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation leader UC Davis on Sunday, Jan. 22, in Davis, Calif.
Hance scored a career-best 9.775 to win the balance beam, while tying for first on the uneven bars with a season-best mark of 9.725, during the Falcons' first conference dual meet of the season.
Hance was one of three Falcons to finish within the top four of the uneven bars, as freshmen Alexandra Stych and Jessica Wallander finished third (debut, 9.550) and fourth (career-best, 9.525), respectively. Air Force also collected two of the top-three finishes on the balance beam, as sophomore Jessica Hanner finished third behind Hance with a season-best matching score of 9.600.
Wallander was also the Falcons' top finisher on the floor exercise, placing fifth with a career-best tally of 9.675. Sophomore Katie Hawthorne led the team on the vault, as she recorded a career-high 9.525 to finish seventh. Classmate Jen Larsen, one of three Falcons to compete in the all-around, finished third with a team-leading score of 37.275.
Air Force returns to Colorado next weekend, traveling to Denver on Saturday, Jan. 28, for a triangular meet with the 16th-ranked Pioneers and Centenary.
