Linnaea Hance Wins Uneven Bars at Rutgers Quad

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Sophomore Linnaea Hance won the uneven bars with a career-best 9.850, as the Air Force women's gymnastics team posted its highest road score of the season (190.950) at the Rutgers Quad on Saturday, Feb. 25, in Piscataway, N.J.
Hance scored a 9.850 to win the 23-member uneven bars - improving the squad's top seasonal score by 0.125. The sophomore was also the Falcons' top scorer on the floor exercise (9.750), while finishing fourth in the all-around (38.350).
Freshman Jessica Wallander was the runner-up on the vault, as she tallied a 9.800. Sophomore Katie Hawthorne also finished within the top six of the uneven bars, as she tied for fifth with a season-best matching score of 9.725, while sophomore Jen Larsen was the Falcons' top scorer on the balance beam with a 9.575 (13th).
Bridgeport won the quad meet with a score of 193.875, while Eastern Michigan placed second with a total of 193.125. Host Rutgers scored a 192.400 to finish fourth, while the Falcons rounded out the field with a 190.950 - their second-highest overall score and the best road score of the year.
The Falcons return to the Academy for their final home matches of the season next weekend. Air Force will honor team captain Samantha Jones during its Senior Night Celebration on Friday, March 2, as it hosts Seattle Pacific at 6 p.m. The Falcons remain at Cadet West Gym on Monday, March 5, when they host Denver and Western Michigan at 6 p.m.
