Jason Torf named AHA Goalie of the Week

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force sophomore Jason Torf was named the Atlantic Hockey/Travel Team USA Goaltender of the Week as he helped lead Air Force to a pair of wins over then-first place RIT, Feb. 3-4, at the Cadet Ice Arena.
Torf started back-to-back nights for the first time since opening weekend as he missed almost three months with a groin injury. On Friday, Torf shutout RIT while making a then season high 25 saves. The shutout was his second straight over RIT as he blanked the Tigers in the AHA championship game last sea¬son. His shutout streak over RIT reached seven straight periods and 156 minutes before the Tigers scored in the second period Saturday night. In the 4-2 win on Saturday, he made a season high 32 saves. The only goals he gave up were a power-play 2-on-1 in the second period and a sixth attacker goal with 63 seconds remaining. In the two game series, he had a 1.00 goals-against average and a .966 saves percentage.
Air Force, 14-7-6 overall and in first place in the AHA with a 12-4-5 mark, travels to western New York for a two-game league series against Niagara, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 10-11, at Dwyer Arena in Niagara Falls. --30--
