Falcons Host UNLV on Saturday
The Air Force men's basketball team returns home to face the UNLV Runnin Rebels on Saturday, March 1. Tip-off at Clune Arena is scheduled for 2:02 p.m. Air Force improved to 11-15 overall and 5-10 in the Mountain West after defeating Wyoming 55-53 in Laramie on Tuesday, while the Rebels improved to 18-10 and 9-6 after beating Colorado State 78-70 Wednesday in Las Vegas. Air Force downed UNLV 75-68 on Jan. 4 in Las Vegas for just its second win ever at UNLV.
All-Time Series vs. UNLV
UNLV holds a 30-10 advantage, including a 10-8 mark at Clune Arena, against Air Force. The Rebels won two of the three meetings last season, winning 76-71 in overtime on Jan. 12 and 72-56 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championships on March 13, both in Las Vegas. Air Force won the meeting at the Academy, 71-56, on Feb. 13.
Five League Wins, Pretty Rare ...
Following is victory at Wyoming on Tuesday, Air Force is now 5-10 in conference play, just the 10th time with at least five league victories since joining a conference in 1980-81.
... Three League Road Wins, Even Rarer
Tueday's win was also AFA's third conference road win this season, the most in one season since 2008 (3) and it ties the third-most in one season in program history. The Falcons have won at least three road league games just seven times since joining a conference in 1980-81.
Nine Straight Under 60
Air Force has scored less than 60 points in nine consecutive games, the most since a 10-game streak late in the 2009-10 campaign. AFA also went 10 straight games under 60 points during the 1980-81 season.
Fewest Assists in Over Two Years
Air Force's six assists vs. Wyoming on Tuesday were the fewest in a game since dishing out six in a 62-60 loss at Drake on Dec. 3, 2011. They were also the fewest amount of assists in a victory since recording six in a 56-50 win over Drexel on Dec. 29, 1998.
Falcons Win at UNLV For Just Second Time Ever
Air Force's 75-68 victory at UNLV on Jan. 4 was just the second win in 22 tries in Las Vegas. The only previous win over the Rebels at the Thomas & Mack Center came on Jan. 25, 2006 (52-50). It was also just the sixth road conference win for Air Force since the 2007-08 season.
