Each week during the 2014 season, GoAirForceFalcons.com will feature a member of the Air Force women's gymnastics team. This week, for the final installment, the spotlight is on senior Linnaea Hance. The Falcons' team captain, who calls Bend, Ore., home, has been an integral part of the Falcons' success this season.
ON GYMNASTICS...
How did you get started in gymnastics?
I wanted to be more like my sister, Madora.
Who are your biggest fans?
My sister by far. Sista love
What challenge do you find in gymnastics that you don't find in any other sport?
I guess I'd say being in charge of your life at all times.
What do you like best about gymnastics?
The thrill of learning new skills
What is your favorite event and why?
Bars; I like the flow
Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
I always take Sudafed and have Jess Hanner braid my hair
For returners: What has been your favorite road trip?
The trip we took to Alaska-Anchorage my sophomore year. We saw at least eight moose in one day.
For returners: What is your most memorable road trip experience?
Possibly when we toured the entirety of New York City in approximately 3 hours... it can be done
What is your advice for young gymnasts?
Take care of the little things first like your coaches say to!! Then you won't have to learn to straighten your legs on your beam series when you're 22!
What drew you to the Air Force women's gymnastics team?
I didn't want to be done with gymnastics just yet, and when Doug recruited me to come here it seemed like a good fit to me.
What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?
The energy the team is giving off is tremendous. I can't wait to see what's in store for us this year.

Who are the biggest influences in your life and why?
Mom and Pops because they're still killin' it
How do you balance your athletics, academics and military duties?
Just stop thinking about how hard it is
Who is your favorite non-gymnast athlete(s) at the Academy?
Georgie Michalke... he's cool
What is your favorite class?
Nutrition
Who is your favorite professor/AOC/etc.?
Capt Newcamp
What is your favorite place on the Academy grounds?
The overlook during thunderstorms
What were your first thoughts of the Academy?
Overwhelming
What is your favorite thing about USAFA?
Seeing how many people have gone out of their way to help me succeed
What has been the hardest thing about the Academy?
Living by the CQ... it's always loud
What was your most memorable "welcome to college" moment?
The D+ I got in Chemistry freshman year
FOR FUN...
When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grow up?
The first lady president. Or a spy. Either one was good with me.
What is one thing that you just can't live without?
I always keep an extra pair of shoes in my car
If you had $1,000,000, what would you do?
See the world and buy some zoo animals
What is your favorite vacation spot?
That I've been to? The Cayman Islands
What is the most interesting place you have traveled to?
China
What is one song that you're tired of hearing?
"I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. Please stop.

What was your first job?
I volunteered at Naper Settlement and played hoop and stick for hours.

I usually get 7 or 8. I could work with 9.

Chicago Blackhawks
What do you want to do after graduation?
I'm headed to Texas for Intelligence training.
What is your proudest achievement?
Being the first all-girl group to win Airband at my high school! NAGG4lyfeee
What era would you most like to travel to?
The 20's

What is a secret talent that few people know you have?
I used to play drum set
