
Falcons Open Home Slate Hosting Seattle Pacific

The Air Force women's gymnastics team kicks off the home portion of its 2015 season this Saturday (Jan. 24), when it hosts Seattle Pacific in a conference matchup at the Academy's Cadet West Gym. The meet between the two Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Seattle Pacific is coming off of a third-place finish at the Central Michigan Triangular last weekend. The highest-ranking Falcons in the conference to date are Tracie Villanueva and Kristi Hayashida, who are tied for sixth in the MPSF on the balance beam with matching marks of 9.737. SPU will host Air Force later this season (Feb. 27), while the two schools will meet again at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
LOOKING AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Jessica Wallander currently leads the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation on the vault, holding a one-meet score of 9.850. She is one of two Falcons to hold top-six rankings on that event, as Jamie Lewis is tied for fourth after recording a score of 9.750 in her collegiate debut. Lindsay Ebel is also listed among the conference leaders, as she is ranked second on the balance beam (9.775).
FALCONS FALL IN SEASON OPENER
Despite a first-place finish on the vault from Jessica Wallander, the Falcons dropped their season-opener to Utah State by a 193.975-186.675 margin on Jan. 9. Wallander scored a 9.850 to win the vault, while Lindsay Ebel finished second on the balance beam with a 9.775 and Jamie Lewis placed third in the all-around with a collegiate debut of 37.150.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force heads back out on the road next week, when it travels to Auburn, Ala., for a dual meet with the 19th-ranked Tigers at Auburn Arena on Friday, Jan. 30.
