UCSD beats Air Force, 12-7

The 14th-ranked UC San Diego water polo team scored four fourth-quarter goals to defeat 13th-ranked Air Force, 12-7, in a Western Water Polo Association game, Thursday, Oct. 22, in San Diego, Calif.
UCSD (10-10, 3-0 WWPA) scored first, but Falcon Robby Stiefel tied the game with a man-up goal with 1:37 left in the opening quarter. UCSD scored the next four goals for a 5-1 lead late in the second. Eric Curia and Garrett Fisk scored for the Falcons late in the second as the Tritons held a 5-3 lead at the half.
Early in the third quarter, goals by Falcons Edward Smet and Fisk gave the Falcons a 6-5 lead. The Tritons then scored three straight for an 8-6 lead. After Smet's second of the game to make the score , 8-7, UCSD scored four unanswered goals in the fourth for a 12-7 victory.
Fisk led the Falcons with three goals, while Smet had two. Ben Rogers led the Falcons with three assists. Max Benson made 14 saves.
Air Force (6-13,0-3 WWPA) takes on Harvard and Brown in Santa Clara, Sunday, Oct. 25.
