Falcons Fall to Eastern Michigan at Air Force Classic

Dec. 4, 2015 USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball dropped a 72-59 contest to Eastern Michigan in the opening game of the 2015 Air Force Classic Friday night at Clune Arena. Three Falcons reached double-figures in scoring, led by senior Taylor Parker's 12 points.
A fast start by EMU (4-1) put the Falcons in catch-up mode for most of the game. The Eagles led 26-17 after the first quarter and went up 41-26 at the break.
The Falcons responded though with their best basketball in the second half. Air Force out-scored EMU 33-31 in the latter half including a 20-11 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Parker, who just recently joined the team after finishing her season up with the USAFA volleyball team, scored 12 points in 22 minutes off the bench. The forward also had three rebounds and two assists.
Joining Parker in double-figures were freshman Rileymarie Clarke and sophomore Cortney Porter. Clarke notched a career-high with 10 points and three rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench. Porter scored 11 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting from the floor, adding two rebounds and two assists.
Freshman Cheyenne Wall had four points and a team-high eight rebounds in just nine minutes off the bench. Sophomore center Maggie Borngesser scored a career-high seven points and added three rebounds in the start for the Falcons.
Cha Sweeney led EMU with 19 points and Phillis Webb added 15. Sera Ozelci had 11 rebounds for the Eagles as well.
In the second game of the night Abilene Christian (5-2) hung on to defeat Grand Canyon (2-6) by the score of 75-71.
Air Force returns to action Saturday in day two of the classic. The Falcons host Grand Canyon at 4:30 pm. Prior to the AF-GCU game, Eastern Michigan will take on Abilene Christian at 2 p.m.
