
Falcons Close out Homestand with SUNY Cortland

The Air Force women's gymnastics team closes out a two-week homestand at the Academy's Cadet West Gym this Saturday (Feb. 14), when it hosts SUNY Cortland at 6:00 p.m. Admission for the first-ever meet between the two programs is free and a live webcast will be available.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Ranked 72nd in the nation with a 186.610 average, SUNY Cortland is currently 2-3 on the season. The Red Dragons are coming off of a season-high 189.225-197.525 victory over Southern Connecticut State last Sunday. Cortland is led by all-arounder Amanda Scanlon, who holds team-leading averages on the vault (9.525), balance beam (9.645) and floor exercise (9.465). This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

LOOKING AROUND THE CONFERENCE
The Falcons hold two of the top-four vault averages in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Jessica Wallander is ranked second with a seasonal average of 9.781, while Jamie Lewis is fourth with a 9.738 average. Wallander is also listed among the top 10 on the uneven bars, as her 9.681 average is ranked ninth.
FALCONS CLAIM VICTORY OVER TEXAS WOMAN'S UNIVERSITY
With their highest team score of the season and a share of three event titles, Air Force defeated Texas Woman's University 192.500-191.850 on Feb. 7, at the Academy. Kara Witgen, who tallied a career-high 38.500 to tie for first in the all-around, captured the floor exercise title behind a season-best score of 9.800. Annie Graft earned a first-place finish on the balance beam (career-best 9.725), while Jessica Wallander claimed top honors on the uneven bars (season-high 9.775).

The Falcons win on Feb. 7 marked just the second Air Force victory over TWU since 2009.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
After two weekends at home, the Falcons head back out on the road. Air Force will travel to Normal, Ill., for a dual meet with Illinois State on Friday, Feb. 20.
