
Air Force Defeats Texas Woman's University

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team picked up its first win of the season this evening, as it defeated USAG-foe Texas Woman's University by a 192.500-191.850 margin. The Falcons claimed a share of three event titles, as they tallied their highest team score of the year.
Sophomore Kara Witgen, who tallied a personal-best 38.500 to tie for first in the all-around, captured the floor exercise title behind a season-high score of 9.800. Classmate Annie Graft earned a first-place, career-best score of 9.725 on the balance beam, while senior Jessica Wallander claimed top honors on the uneven bars behind a season-high score of 9.775.
In addition to their event titles, Witgen and Wallander also accounted for additional runner-up finishes. Witgen scored a 9.700 to take second on the balance beam, while Wallander scored a 9.825 to finish second on the vault. In addition to her top-two marks on the floor and beam, Witgen also tied for fifth on the uneven bars (9.625).
Freshman Jamie Lewis and senior Kim McRobbie both placed within the top half of the field on a pair of events. Lewis matched her career high on the floor exercise (9.750) and set a new personal best on the uneven bars (9.650) to finish fourth on both events, while McRobbie tied for fourth on the balance beam (9.625) and finished in a tie for fifth on the floor exercise (9.700). Senior Alexandra Stych rounded out the Falcons' top-six finishers, as she scored a 9.750 to finish fourth on the floor exercise.
The Falcons remain at home next week, as they host SUNY-Cortland at 6:00 p.m., on Saturday (Feb. 14).
