Scouting Detroit Mercy
Detroit Mercy is 4-2 overall this season. The Titans have won two straight, most recently a 12-7 win over Mercer at home on March 4. Detroit Mercy also has wins over Ohio State (9-8), Robert Morris (11-10 ot) and Bellarmine (14-11). Mark Anstead leads the team with 20 points and is tied for the team lead with 11 goals. Shayne Adams also has 11 goals and is second with 16 points. Jason Weber has started all six games in goal and has a 10.46 GAA and a .634 saves percentage with a 4-2 record.
Finally Back at Falcon Stadium
After five straight games away from Falcon Stadium, Air Force returns home to host Detroit Mercy. Air Force faced Marist, Feb. 14, at Falcon Stadium in a 7-6 loss and then played in the Frontier Airlines Faceoff Classic at Denver. The second game of that tournament was played in the Academy's Holaday Athletic Center due to weather. The last three weeks, Air Force has been on the East Coast (at Furman, Vermont and VMI).
Air Force will play five of its final eight games at Falcon Stadium.
Inside the Numbers
Freshman Chris Walsch leads the team with 19 goals, eight assists and 27 points this season. Walsch is tied for 22nd in the nation in goals per game, the fifth most by a freshman. He has scored in all seven games.
Senior Keith Dreyer is tied for second on the team with 10 goals and is second on the team with seven assists and 17 points. He has scored in six of the last seven games, including a season best four goals and five points vs. VMI, March 8.
Nick Hruby is tied for second on the team with 10 goals and is third with 12 points.
Junior Christopher Allen leads the team with three man-up goals this season. He has three of the team's eight man-up goals.
Senior Kyle O'Brien leads the team with 20 ground balls. Freshman Josh Radjenovich is second with 17.
Sophomore Luke Toscano leads the team with 35 faceoffs won. Radjenovich is second with 34.
Between the Pipes
Junior Doug Gouchoe has started all seven games for the Falcons and has a .519 saves percentage with 69 saves this season. He made a then-season high 14 saves, while allowing just six goals, to lead the Falcons to a 13-6 win over Canisius, Feb. 22. He made a season high 15 saves vs. Vermont in the 11-10 triple overtime loss to the Catamounts.
His 69 saves are the ninth most in the nation while his .516 saves percentage is 37th in the nation.
