
Five Titles Highlight Falcons' Win over Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. - Highlighted by five event titles and 10 additional top-three finishes, the 10th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team closed out the regular season with a 425.650-408.250 victory over 16th-ranked Arizona State this evening (March 13) in Tempe.
The Falcons collected first-place finishes from senior Josh Ramos (floor exercise, parallel bars), freshman Arinn Wade (pommel horse), junior Denis Aurelius (still rings) and sophomore Chase Cannon (high bar), with each breaking the 15-point scoring mark at least once.
Ramos matched his career-high of 15.100 (the third-best total in program history) to win the parallel bars, while adding a 14.900 to take first on the floor exercise. The senior, who finished among the top-three on all five of his events, added third-place scores on the pommel horse (13.550), vault (14.500) and high bar (14.000).
Cannon scored a career-best 15.100 to win the high bar and move into second on the Academy's all-time list, while Aurelius and Wade posted matching scores of 15.150 to take first on the still rings and pommel horse, respectively. The Falcons also reached the 15-point plateau with runner-up finishes on the high bar (senior Nick Gaudlip, 15.050) and pommel horse (sophomore Tim Wang, 15.000).
Like Ramos, Gaudlip placed within the top-three of every event he competed in, adding a runner-up score on the parallel bars (14.700) and a third-place finish on the floor exercise (14.800).
The Falcons also accounted for second-place finishes on the still rings (freshman Fletcher Braunton, 14.700) and vault (junior Josh Pyne, 14.550).
Aurelius placed within the top-five on the vault (14.350, fourth) and floor exercise (14.500, fifth), while senior Greg Chaput placed third on the parallel bars (14.350) and fifth on the pommel horse (13.600). Sophomore Aaron Nubine rounded out the Falcons' list of top-five finishers, as he placed fourth on the high bar (13.700) and fifth on the still rings (14.050).
The Falcons return to action next weekend (March 20-21), when they host the 2015 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships at the Academy's Cadet West Gym. The team finals will take place at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, March 20, while the event finals will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 21.
