
Falcons Finish Sixth at MPSF Championships

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Air Force women's gymnastics team recorded a 191.150 to finish sixth at the 2015 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships this evening (March 21) in Anchorage, Alaska. Senior Jessica Wallander earned a top five finish on the vault, while classmate Kim McRobbie accounted for two top-10 finishes.
Wallander recorded the Falcons' highest score of the night (9.825) during a fifth-place (tie) performance on the vault, while McRobbie tied for sixth on the uneven bars (career-best 9.750) and finished eighth outright in the all-around (38.675). Wallander also placed within the top-half of the 36-gymnast field on the floor exercise (9.775, 12th) and McRobbie shared the team lead on the balance beam with sophomore Annie Graft (9.650, 20th).
Senior Alexandra Stych was the Falcons' top scorer on the floor exercise, tying for sixth with a career-best matching score of 9.825, and finished in a tie for 11th on the uneven bars (9.700). Sophomore Kara Witgen and freshman Jamie Lewis also placed within the top-half of the field on the floor exercise and uneven bars, respectively. Witgen tied for 14th on the floor with a 9.750, while Lewis earned the same placement outright on the bars behind a personal-best 9.675.
With a score of 195.300, UC Davis claimed its fifth title in six years, while San Jose State and Sacramento State finished second (195.175) and third (194.175), respectively. Host Alaska-Anchorage (193.700, fourth), Seattle Pacific (192.700, fifth) and Air Force (191.150, sixth) rounded out the MPSF Championship field.
The Falcons are off from competition until the NCAA Regional Championships, which will be held on Saturday, April 4. The regional field will be announced early next week.
