USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - After breaking the Academy record on the pommel horse with the second-highest score in the nation this season, freshman Arinn Wade was named the Air Force co-Athlete of the Week on Monday, March 9. It is the first weekly award for the Newark, N.J., native.
Wade recorded an program-best 15.600 to win the pommel horse title during the Falcons' victory over Washington on March 7. Wade improved his own mark on that event by over a half-point, en route to recording the second-highest pommel horse score by any gymnast in the nation this season. Wade, who also finished within the top four on the still rings and parallel bars, helped Air Force to a season-best team score of 429.900 and the second-highest pommel horse team score (72.750) in program history.
Wade, who shared the athletic department's March 9 honor with Mary McElwee of the Air Force fencing team, returns to action this Friday (March 13), when the 10th-ranked Falcons travel to Tempe, Ariz., to close out the 2015 regular season against No. 16 Arizona State.
