Air Force (5-5 overall) will face the Bellarmine Knights (3-5 overall) on Saturday, April 4, at noon CT at Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas
The Coach
Head coach Eric Seremet (North Carolina, 1992) is in his seventh season as the Falcons' head coach. The 2014 USILA Division I Coach of the Year, Seremet led the Falcons to its best season ever. The 2014 Falcons compiled an 11-6 overall record and secured their highest win total since 1988. The Falcons clinched a share of the regular season conference title before going on to win the ECAC Tournament title, earning their first NCAA bid since 1988. Air Force defeated Richmond in the NCAA play-in game, capturing its first NCAA tournament win in program history. In his seventh season with the Falcons, Seremet has an Academy and career record of 43-52. Seremet came to the Academy in 2002 and spent seven seasons as an assistant coach under Fred Acee.
Scouting Bellarmine
Bellarmine is 3-5 overall this season and 1-2 in the Southern Conference. Bellarmine and Air Force will both be in the SoCon next season. Earlier this week, the Knights defeated 13th-ranked Marquette at home, 9-3, on March 31. Austin Shanks leads the team with 20 goals and 25 points while Jack Perkins is second with 12 goals and 17 points. Drew Goethals has started all eight games in goal and had a 3-5 record with a 9.24 goals against average and a .537 saves percentage.
Common Opponents
Air Force and Bellarmine have both faced Detroit Mercy, Furman and VMI. Air Force is 2-1 against those three teams. The Falcons beat Detroit (9-6) at home and VMI (12-8) on the road and fell to Furman (3-2) on the road. Bellarmine is 1-2 against those teams, having lost to Detroit at home (14-11) and Furman on the road (9-7). The Knights beat VMI (17-7) at home. Air Force's next two opponents, Mercer and Robert Morris, have both played Bellarmine this season. Bellarmine beat Robert Morris (13-10) on the road in the second game of the season and lost to Mercer on the road (8-6) last week.
Home Cooking
After playing seven of the first nine games on the road, including five straight, the Falcons play five of the last eight at home. After victories over Detroit and Jacksonville, the Falcons will face Bellarmine (April 4) and Mercer (April 11) on the road. The final three games of the season will be at Falcon Stadium: Robert Morris (April 18), Quinnipiac (April 23) and Navy (May 2).
Inside the Numbers
Freshman Chris Walsch leads the team with 27 goals and 37 points this season. Walsch's 27 goals rank 22nd in the nation and are the fourth most by a freshman. He had scored a goal in the first eight games, but was held without a point vs. High Point to end the streak. He bounced back with a career high six goals and eight points in the win over Jacksonville.
Senior Keith Dreyer leads the team with 11 assists and is second on the team with 16 goals and 27 points. He has scored in nine of the 10 games, including a season high of four goals and six assists against Jacksonville.
Nick Hruby is tied for second on the team with 16 goals and is third with 18 points. Hruby tied his season high with four goals against High Point.
Christopher Allen leads the team with three man-up goals this season. He has three of the team's eight man-up goals. Allen is fourth on the team with 12 goals and 14 points. Sophomore Luke Toscano leads the team with 27 ground balls and 57 faceoffs won.
