Jessica Wallander Takes Second at USAG Finals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Highlighted by a runner-up finish on the vault from senior Jessica Wallander, the Air Force women's gymnastics team wrapped up the 2015 season this afternoon (April 12) at the individual event finals of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in Philadelphia.
Wallander, one of two Falcons to qualify to the individual event finals, scored a 9.825 to tie for second on the vault with Texas Woman's University's Madison Nettles. The senior also accounted for a 10th-place finish on the floor exercise, posting a score of 9.750 to tie with Yale's Camilla Opperman.
Sophomore Kara Witgen also competed on the floor exercise during the final day of action at the USAG meet, scoring a 9.800 to tie for eighth with TWU's Spencer Jones. Witgen was also recognized during today's award ceremony for her fifth-place finish in the all-around (38.550) in Friday's qualifying session.
