Falcons Conclude Action at NCAA Regional

AMES, Iowa - Represented by three all-arounders and three event specialists, the Air Force women's gymnastics team wrapped up competition at the 2015 NCAA Regional this evening (April 4) at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
Sophomore Annie Graft posted the Falcons' best finish of the meet, placing within the top half of the 42-gymnast field on the balance beam (18th, tie) behind a score of 9.600. Senior Jessica Wallander tied for 31st on the uneven bars (9.600) and placed 33rd outright on the vault (9.675), while classmate Alexandra Stych tied for 31st on the floor exercise (9.750).
Sophomore Kara Witgen paced the trio of all-around competitors with a 13th-place score of 37.550. Freshman Jamie Lewis finished just 0.050 behind Witgen (37.500, 14th), while senior Kim McRobbie scored a 36.775 to finish 16th.
Witgen was the Falcons' top all-arounder on the floor exercise (9.650, 37th), while tying with Lewis for the trio's top spot on the vault (9.500, 36th tie). The sophomore added a 37th-place score of 9.475 on the uneven bars and tied with Lewis for 38th on the balance beam (8.925). In addition to the two scores she shared with Witgen, Lewis added 38th-place scores on the uneven bars (9.450) and floor exercise (9.625). McRobbie rounded out the group with 35th-place finishes on the uneven bars (9.550) and balance beam (9.200) and 41st-place scores on the vault (9.000) and floor exercise (9.025).
Air Force closes out the 2015 campaign next weekend (April 10-12), when it travels to Philadelphia, Pa., for the annual USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships.
