The Coach
Head coach Eric Seremet (North Carolina, 1992) is in his seventh season as the Falcons' head coach. The 2014 USILA Division I Coach of the Year, Seremet led Air Force to its best season ever. The 2014 Falcons compiled an 11-6 overall record and secured their highest win total since 1988. The Falcons clinched a share of the regular season conference title before going on to win the ECAC Tournament title, earning their first NCAA bid since 1988. Air Force defeated Richmond in the NCAA play-in game, capturing its first NCAA tournament win in program history. In his seventh season with the Falcons, Seremet has an Academy and career record of 44-52. Seremet came to the Academy in 2002 and spent seven seasons as an assistant coach under Fred Acee.
Scouting Mercer
Mercer is a member of the Southern Conference, the same conference Air Force will join next season. The Bears are 4-5 overall this season and 4-0 in the conference. After opening the season with five straight losses, the Bears have won four straight, including last week's 17-4 win on the road at VMI. Chris Rahill and Chris Baxa are tied for the team lead with 16 goals in nine games. Rahill leads the team with eight assists and 24 points. Junior Mike Nugent has started all nine games in goal and has a .537 saves percentage and an 11.69 goals against average.
Common Opponents
Air Force and Mercer have faced six common opponents this season: Duke, Detroit Mercy, High Point, Furman, Bellarmine and VMI. Both Air Force and Mercer are 4-2 against those teams. Both teams lost to Duke, who was No. 3 at the time of both games. Air Force lost to High Point (10-9) while Mercer beat them (12-11 in overtime). Mercer lost to Detroit Mercy (12-7) while Air Force beat them (9-6). Both teams have beaten VMI, Furman and Bellarmine.
