Air Force Trio Advances at NCAA Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - Based on their performances in the National Qualifier today, three members of the Air Force men's gymnastics team advanced to the second round of action at the NCAA National Championships. Freshman Arinn Wade and sophomore Tim Wang qualified on the pommel horse, while junior Denis Aurelius advanced on the still rings.
Wade won the pommel horse in the afternoon qualifier, while his score of 15.250 was the second-highest tally amongst all 73 gymnasts in the two combined sessions. Wang finished fourth on the pommel horse (14.900) and Aurelius placed fifth on the still rings (15.300), as the pair qualified to the event preliminaries for the second straight season.
The top three teams from each session of Thursday's National Qualifier (afternoon session - Stanford, California, Penn State; evening session - Oklahoma, Michigan, Iowa), as well as the top-three all-arounders not on an advancing team and the top three individual event specialists that are not on an advancing team or qualifying as an all-arounder from each session will compete on Friday at the team finals and individual event preliminaries.
Friday's meet, which begins at 7:00 p.m. (CT) inside Oklahoma's Lloyd Noble Center, will determine the team and all-around champions, as well as the top 10 individuals from each event that will advance to Saturday's event finals.
