Air Force Downed at Nevada

RENO, Nevada - Air Force women's basketball dropped a 68-57 Mountain West contest at Nevada Saturday afternoon at Lawlor Events Center. Freshman Rileymarie Clarke led the Falcons with 10 points.
In a see-saw battle, that saw the Falcons lead by as much as 10 points in the first-half, it was Nevada that took control of the game late, pulling away to the win.
Nevada led 19-16 after the first quarter of play. The Falcons then outscored the Wolf Pack 22-15 in the second half to lead 38-34 at halftime. Air Force led by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, building a 38-28 lead at the 1:50 mark.
Nevada continued to chip away at the Falcons, taking a 47-45 lead with under three minutes to play in the third quarter. A 13-0 run in the fourth quarter all but sealed the game for the Wolf Pack (2-13, 1-2).
Clarke tied a career-high in points for Air Force. The guard was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line, adding four rebounds.
Sophomore Dee Bennett scored nine points off the bench and grabbed three rebounds. Sophomores Cortney Porter and Sarah Cantu and freshman Cheyenne Wall scored eight points each. Porter had five rebounds and three assists as well. Cantu hit both of Air Force's 3 point baskets.
Nevada had three players in double-figures scoring. Tiege Zeller and Halie Bergman had 14 points each and Nyasha Lesure added 10.
Air Force returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 13, hosting Utah State. Tip time, at Clune Arena, is 7 pm.
