
Shane Starrett named to Mike Richter Watch List

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force sophomore Shane Starrett is one of 20 goalies named the watch list for the 2017 Mike Richter Award, an announced today by Let's Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation. The award annually honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I men's hockey. The winner of the fourth annual award will be announced at the 2017 NCAA Men's Frozen Four in Chicago.
Starrett was a first-team all-conference selection and was named to the all-rookie team in Atlantic Hockey last season. He was presented with the league's top goaltender award as his 1.68 goals-against average was the best in league games. He also tied for second with a .931 saves percentage. A native of Bellingham, Mass., he was the AHC Goalie of the Week four times this season, the Rookie of the Week once, the Goalie of the Month once and the Rookie of the Month once. His four shutouts were tied as the best in Atlantic Hockey and the ninth best in the nation
Starrett is one of six sophomores on the watch list and is one of three goalies from Atlantic Hockey, joining Paul Berrafato from Holy Cross and Parker Gahagen of Army West Point.
