
Falcons Close Out 2016 Season at Boise State

The Air Force volleyball team concludes the 2016 season this week with a road match against league-leading Boise State. The Broncos, who claimed at least a share of the conference title last week, will host the Falcons at 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Bronco Gym.

SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Boise State enters its final regular-season match with a 24-6 overall record, a 15-2 mark in Mountain West action and at least a share of the conference title. The Broncos, who can win the conference outright on Tuesday, are coming off of a 2-0 week that included victories over Colorado State (3-2) and Wyoming (3-0). Boise State leads the MW for both team and individual standings for kills (team: 14.56; Sierra Nobley: 4.56), assists (team: 13.57; Jaymee-Lee Bulda: 11.82) and digs (team: 15.71; Maddi Osburn: 4.90), while ranking second in team hitting (.257) and third in team aces (1.34).
SERIES HISTORY
Boise State leads the all-time series with Air Force by a 10-2 margin, including a 5-0 slate in Boise.
SENIOR SALUTE
The Falcons honored three dedicated seniors – manager Ali Green, cadet coach Raquel Rosas and team captain Savannah Banyai – on Wednesday, Nov. 16, as they participated in their final match at the Academy. Click HERE to hear what head coach Marc Swindle had to say about Banyai.
AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Four Falcons are listed among the top-10 of the Mountain West's overall standings. Elizabeth Pennington is ranked fifth in kills (3.57), fifth in points (4.10) and eighth in aces (0.29), while Abigail Miksch is 10th in kills (3.24) and Savannah Banyai is listed ninth in aces (0.29). In addition, Sarah Hellman is ranked sixth in assists (9.63) and the team is ranked second in service aces (1.65).
HITTING THE BIG NUMBERS
Two players hit some major milestones during the Nov. 16-19 matches. Savannah Banyai registered her 300th dig of the season against Wyoming, while Elizabeth Pennington collected her 400th kill against Colorado State. Pennington also nabbed her 30th service ace of the season against the Rams to debut on the program's Division I single-season standings.
