
Falcons travel to Sacred Heart for league series

Air Force (9-6-3, 6-3-1 AHC) returns from the holiday break and travels to Sacred Heart (6-10-2 overall and 4-8 AHC) for a two-game league series, Friday-Saturday, Dec. 30-31. The faceoff will be at 3:05 pm ET each day from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. Air Force is in fifth place in the AHC with 13 points while SHU is 10th with eight points.
Back At It
Following a 21-day break, the Falcons will play four straight on the road. After the Sacred Heart series, the Falcons play two at Mercyhurst, Jan. 6-7. Beginning with the SHU series, the Falcons will play nine straight weekends prior to the playoffs.

Scouting the Pioneers
Sacred Heart is 6-10-2 overall and 4-8-0 and in 10th place in the AHC. Prior to the holiday break, SHU split a two-game home series with Mercyhurst, falling 5-3 in the first game and winning, 3-2, in game two. SHU is 3-3 in its last six games. The Pioneers have non-conference wins over UConn and Merrimack and tied current No. 10 Union earlier in the season. Senior forward Justin Danforth leads the team with 16 points (3-13-16). Senior forward Jordan Minello leads the team with 11 goals. Junior Nathan Perry and sophomore Brett Magnus have split time in goal. They each have a .890 saves percentage while Perry has a 2.79 GAA to lead the team.
Series vs. the Pioneers
Air Force and Sacred Heart have played 35 times and the Falcons hold a 22-8-5 lead in the series that began in 2000. In Atlantic Hockey games, Air Force has a 19-6-4 advantage in the series. In games played in Connecticut, Air Force is 6-6-2 vs. the Pioneers. Six of Air Force's eight losses in the series have come in Connecticut. Sacred Heart has also beaten Air Force once at Cadet Ice Arena and once in the AHC Final Four. Last season, Air Force took three points in Connecticut with a 1-1 overtime tie and a 3-2 win. The last four games, and six of the last eight, have been played in Connecticut.
