Air Force Takes Third at Iowa State Triangular

AMES, Iowa – The Air Force women's gymnastics team bettered the 190-point plateau for the fourth straight meet, as it registered a score of 190.200 to finish third behind 18th-ranked Minnesota (195.525) and Iowa State (195.075) on Friday, Feb. 19, in Ames, Iowa.
Senior Sarah Neumann posted the Falcons' highest finish of the night, as she finished sixth on the balance beam with a score of 9.750. She was one of two Falcons to finish within the top half of the 18-gymnast field on that event, as sophomore Chelsea Grimison finished seventh with a career-best 9.700.
Matching her season high score of 9.775, junior Kara Witgen finished within the top half of the field on the floor exercise, as she was a part of a four-way tie for seventh. Witgen was also Air Force's top finisher on the vault (12th) with a 9.550, while classmate Darby Germain used that same score to finish as the Falcons' top scorer on the uneven bars (11th).
Air Force returns to the Academy on Friday, Feb. 26, when it hosts Southeast Missouri at 6:00 p.m.
