Starrett named AHC Goalie of the Month

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force's Shane Starrett was named the Atlantic Hockey Conference Goalie of the Month as he helped lead Air Force to a 7-1-2 record in the month of January.
In nine games during January, the freshman from Bellingham, Mass., posted a .947 saves percentage and a 1.21 goals-against average. In eight starts, he allowed just 10 goals, while making 179 saves and posting the first two shutouts of his career. His first career shutout came against Army when he made 23 saves in leading Air Force to a 1-0 win over its service academy rival. Starrett also shutout Niagara with 14 saves in a 3-0 win on Jan. 22. He has allowed one goal or less in six of his last eight games.
Air Force (13-9-4 overall and 11-5-4 AHC) hosts the RIT Tigers (12-10-4, 12-5-3 AHC), in a two-game Atlantic Hockey Conference series, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 5-6, at 7:05 pm both nights at Cadet Ice Arena (2,470). Air Force is tied for third in the conference with 26 points, one point behind second place RIT. Air Force enters the series with an eight-game unbeaten streak, tied as the longest in the nation. RIT has a seven-game unbeaten streak, tied as the fifth-longest in the nation.
