Falcons Fall to Fourth-Ranked Minnesota

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Sophomore Arinn Wade and junior Tim Wang earned event titles, but the 10th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team dropped a 438.500-425.850 decision to fourth-ranked Minnesota on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Academy's Cadet West Gym.
The Falcons recorded season-high scores on the pommel horse (71.000), parallel bars (70.300) and high bar (71.300), en route to a total team score that was just 0.100 off of their season high.
Wade scored a season-high 15.000 to win the pommel horse, while Wang tallied a season-best 14.750 to win the parallel bars. The pair combined for three additional finishes within the top half of the field, as Wade tied with freshman Lukas Texeira for second on the high bar (14.500, career-high for both) and Wang finished third on the pommel horse (14.850) and sixth on the still rings (14.200).
In his first meet of the year, junior Aaron Nubine tied with freshman Christian Kalustian for third on the vault (14.650) and finished fourth on the floor exercise with a tally of 14.800.
Junior Chase Cannon finished fifth on the high bar with a season-best tally of 14.450, while sophomore Fletcher Braunton earned the same placement on the still rings with a 14.350. Freshman Ryan Girouard and sophomore Jonathan Fornoff rounded out the Falcons' top-six scorers, as the pair placed sixth on the floor exercise (14.350) and parallel bars (14.150), respectively.
Air Force travels to Atlanta next Saturday (Feb. 13) to face Army and Navy at the All-Academy Championships.
