WOODLAND, Calif. -- Three members of the Air Force women's gymnastics team earned all-conference honors, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced today (March 17). Junior Kara Witgen earned all-MPSF second-team honors on four events, while senior Sarah Neumann and sophomore Jamie Lewis each earned second-team honors on one event.
The top gymnast from each school is each event was an automatic selection, determined by her Regional Qualifying Score at the conclusion of the regular season. Six additional gymnasts per event were chosen as at-large selections, based on the next highest RQS, regardless of team. The top six scores were named first-team all-conference, while the remaining gymnasts were named to the second team.
Witgen earned second-team honors by being ranked among the conference's top 12 on the uneven bars (9.725, 11th), floor exercise (9.780, 12th) and all-around (38.425, seventh). She also received the team's all-MPSF selection by posting the team's top RQS on the vault (9.635, 25th). These are the first four honors of Witgen's career.
Neumann earned her first all-conference honor by holding the team's top RQS on the balance beam (9.760, 11th), while Lewis, who was named to the all-MPSF team for the second time in as many years, joined Witgen on the second-team in the all-around, as she is ranked ninth with a 37.930.
