Falcons Set to Conclude Season at USAG Championships

The Air Force women's gymnastics team closes out the 2016 season this weekend, when it travels to St. Charles, Mo., for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. The meet, which runs from Friday, April 8, through Sunday, April 10, will be held at Hyland Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University.

MEET INFORMATION
The three days of competition at the USAG Championships are broken down into two qualifying sessions (April 8, see team schedule below), team finals (April 9 at 7:00 p.m.) and event finals (April 10 at 1:00 p.m.). All-session tickets are $30, while single-day tickets are $15. The top eight squads in the USAG standings will send full squads to Lindenwood, while the four remaining programs will travel individual gymnasts. SCHEDULING 101
The 2016 USAG Championships begin with two qualifying sessions on Friday, April 8. The afternoon session (2:00 p.m.) features Air Force, Bridgeport, Cornell and Seattle Pacific, while the evening session (7:00 –p.m.) includes Brown, Lindenwood, Texas Woman's University and Yale. The top two teams from each session will advance to Saturday's team finals, while the top individual performers from each qualifying session will move on to Sunday's event finals.

WHO'S WHO
Texas Woman's University has accounted for the most USAG team titles (nine), although Bridgeport has won six of the last seven. Lindenwood is the defending champion, while Seattle Pacific (three), Air Force (two), Cornell (one) and Centenary (one) have also claimed USAG team titles since the division was founded in 1982.
HISTORY 101
Air Force has earned two USAG team titles (2001, 2002) and had seven gymnasts combine for 10 individual event titles. Kim Broughton (all-around: 2000, 2002), Jennifer Dougherty (vault: 2002, all-around: 2002) and Allison Todd (balance beam: 2002, 2003) all claimed multiple event titles, while Bethany Stott (balance beam: 2001), Jessa Liegl (balance beam: 2004), Brittany Dutton (uneven bars: 2011) and Linnaea Hance (uneven bars: 2014) have each earned one.
A LOOK AT THE RANKINGS
Air Force is ranked eighth in the USAG Division, holding a regional qualifying average of 191.895. As a team, the Falcons hold the same placement on the vault, uneven bars and balance beam (tie). Individually, Sarah Neumann is ranked among the USAG top 10 on the balance beam (9.760, eighth), while Kara Witgen and Shannen Kelly are listed among the top 20 on the floor exercise (9.790, 12th tie) and balance beam (9.730, 18th tie), respectively.
