MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The sixth-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team collected four event titles this afternoon (Jan. 21), but dropped a 407.700-395.350 decision to 10th-ranked Minnesota at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis. Senior Tim Wang won the pommel horse, still rings and high bar, while junior Jonathan Fornoff claimed the event title on the parallel bars.
Wang, who tallied an 80.900 as the only competitor in the all-around, claimed first-place scores on the pommel horse (14.500), still rings (13.900) and high bar (career-best 14.100), while taking second on the vault (14.900) and finishing within the top half of the field on the parallel bars (sixth, 13.000).
Fornoff registered a 14.200 to win the parallel bars.
Wang paced the Falcons to the top-two finishes on a pair of events, as junior Fletcher Braunton scored a 13.750 to take second on the still rings and sophomore Jacob Stanley tied for that placement on the high bar with a mark of 13.600.
Sophomore Casey Branin, the Falcons' top finisher on the floor exercise (13.250), also earned top-six finishes on the parallel bars (career-best 13.700) and pommel horse (13.000), while classmate Christian Kalustian added a pair of fifth-place marks to the Falcons' lineup, following career-best scores of 14.150 on the vault and 13.300 on the high bar.
The Falcons return to the Academy next weekend, when they host service academy rival Army West Point at noon on Saturday, Jan. 21.
