
Eighth-Ranked Air Force Heads to California Triangular

The eighth-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team travels to the West Coast this weekend for the Cal Benefit Cup against No. 10 California and No. 20 SC United on Saturday, March 4. The meet, the Falcons' first of the season against their conference counterparts from Cal, will take place at the Haas Pavilion in Berkeley and is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
SCOUTING THE BEARS
California, under the direction of former Air Force assistant coach Brett McClure (2006-10), is currently ranked 10th in the NCAA with a three-score average of 404.833. The Bears, who are coming off of a 402.100-386.800 road loss to Michigan last Saturday, are ranked fourth, nationally, on the high bar with a 69.667 mark. Individually, Yordan Aleksandrov is ranked among the nation's top 10 on that event, holding a three-score average of 14.417.
SCOUTING SC UNITED
SC United, in its third season as a club team in Southern California, is currently ranked 20th with a three-score mark of 347.650. The squad is coming off of a fourth-place finish (345.650) at the Sun Devil Classic.
AIR FORCE IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Falcons are ranked eighth in the NCAA with a three-score average of 407.533. As a team, Air Force is ranked among the nation's top-five on the pommel horse (fifth, 68.367) and still rings (fifth, 69.533), while holding top-10 marks on the parallel bars (ninth, 68.167) and high bar (10th, 67.267). Individually, Tim Wang is ranked fourth on the pommel horse (14.783), fifth on both the vault (14.817) and all-around (84.050) and eighth on the still rings (14.650), while Jonathon Fornoff is tied for eighth on the parallel bars with a three-score average of 14.333.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
The Falcons head across the country next weekend for a pair of meets. Air Force will travel to Annapolis, Md., on Friday, March 10, for a triangular meet with the 11th-ranked Midshipmen and No. 14 William and Mary, before heading to Chicago for a dual meet with No. 19 Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, March 12.
