Mountain West releases men's basketball schedule

The 2017-18 Mountain West men's basketball Conference schedule was released today. The schedule format for the 11-member lineup includes eight home-and-home series and two one-time games. Each institution will play nine home contests and make nine road trips during the Conference portion of the season. This is the fifth year that the MW has utilized the 18-game format since expanding to its current membership in 2013-14.
Today's release represents the first phase in the 2017-18 men's basketball schedule process. Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports Network and ESPN will initiate a selection procedure which will include the shifting of select Wednesday games to Tuesday and Saturday games to Sunday. The national television selections are expected to be completed by the middle of August. Regional partner AT&T Sports Net/ROOT Sports and the Mountain West Network on STADIUM will begin their picks after the national television lineup has been announced.
The 2017-18 MW schedule begins on Wednesday, December 27 with five contests. The Conference season plays out over 10 weeks and concludes on Saturday, March 3. League play will determine the seeding for the 2018 MW Men's Basketball Championship held March 7-10 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Individual MW institutions will release non-conference schedules in the coming weeks. Game times will be set once all broadcast networks finalize their selections.
Additionally, the Conference announced the format and game times for the 2018 MW Men’s Basketball Championship. The 10-game tournament begins on Wednesday, March 7 with three first-round games. The men’s quarterfinals are set for Thursday, March 8 with a pair of semifinal contests on Friday, March 9. The tournament will conclude with the men’s championship game on Saturday, March 10 at 3 p.m. PT.
