EUGENE, Ore. -- Eight members of the Air Force men's track and field team wrapped up the opening round of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this evening (June 7), as they competed in six semifinal races Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Junior Jamiel Trimble had one of the busiest lineups in the men's field tonight, as he competed in two individual events and ran anchor on the Falcons' two relays. Trimble's best individual finish came in the 110-meter hurdles, as he clocked a wind-aided time of 13.69 to finish fifth in his heat and 12th overall in the full semifinal field. The junior also added a 20th-place time of 20.77 in the 200-meter dash.
Trimble anchored the 4x100-meter relay of freshman Terrell Bradford, senior Zach Johnson and junior Robbie Anderson that posted their second-fastest time of the season -- 39.64 -- to finish seventh in their heat and 21st overall. While that relay opened the night, the 4x400-meter squad of sophomore Sedacy Walden, junior Chip White, junior Tyler Koss and Trimble closed out the night with a 23rd-place time of 3:10.01.
Senior Matt Dorsey closed out his NCAA career with a ninth-place finish in his semifinal heat of the 1500-meter run. Running in the second of two qualifying races, the recently-commissioned second lieutenant clocked a time of 3:45.41 to place 19th in the overall field. In addition to leading off the 4x400-meter relay, Walden also participated in the semifinal heat of the 400-meter dash. The sophomore clocked a time of 47.36 to finish eighth in his heat and 24th in the overall field.
The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships continue tomorrow (June 8), with the first day of action in the women's competition. Air Force will be represented on the pole vault runway by sophomore Kathryn Tomczak, who competes at 5:00 p.m. (PT).
