
Falcons Return to Academy for Two Matches

Air Force will host league-leading Colorado State (Nov. 1) and Wyoming (Nov. 3) this week.
After four-straight matches on the road, the Air Force volleyball team returns to the Academy this week for a pair of conference contests in Cadet East Gym. The Falcons will open the final month of the season against current league-leader Colorado State on Thursday, Nov. 1, before hosting Wyoming on Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Colorado State (18-6, 10-2) and Wyoming (16-8, 8-4) will face each other in Fort Collins on Tuesday before heading to the Academy later in the week. Colorado State swept San Diego State and Fresno State last week to take over the top spot in the conference standings, while Wyoming split those matches (1-3 loss to Fresno State, 3-0 win over San Diego State) to remain in third on the conference leaderboard. The Rams lead the conference in hitting (.294) and kills (13.73), while ranking second in assists (12.73), blocks (2.68) and service aces (1.71). Individually, Colorado State boasts the top-two hitters in the league (Paulina Hougaard-Jensen at .405, Kristie Hillyer at .374), as well as the conference's top-setter (Katie Oleksak at 11.63) and the No. 2 producer of MW kills (Breana Runnels at 4.39). Backed by the conference's top-blocker (Reed Copeland at 1.51), Wyoming is averaging a league-leading 2.90 blocks per set. The Cowgirls are also listed among the Mountain West's top three in hitting (second at .238) and digs (third at 14.23), while Copeland is ranked third in hitting (.360) and Madi Davis holds the same ranking in digs (4.43).

Air Force is 0-2 against this weekend's opponents in 2018, dropping road contests to Wyoming and Colorado State in early October. The Falcons suffered a 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25, 12-15 setback to the Cowgirls in Laramie on Oct 4, before being swept by Colorado State (18-25, 14-25, 18-25) on Oct. 5 in Fort Collins.
