Freshmen lead Falcons on final day in Maui

Jonathan Farmer and Luke Trujillo each shot a 70 (-1) on the final day
MAUI, Hawai'I – Freshmen Jonathan Famer and Luke Trujillo led the Air Force golf team on the final day of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic, Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Club in Maui.
Both freshmen came in under par on the final day, each shooting a one-under-par 70. Farmer started on No. 14, and used a consistent round to post his best score of the tournament, with 15 pars, two birdies and one bogey. Trujillo's round was a little different. Starting on No 16, he bogeyed No. 16 and No. 1, but got back to even with birdies on Nos. 6 and 7. After a bogey on 10, he birdied Nos. 12 and 14 for his best round of the tournament.
Junior Josh Wu was Air Force's top golfer in the tournament with 216. After an opening round 70, he shot back-to-back rounds of 73. Farmer finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 218 while Trujillo finished at 224. Senior Bryant Falconello, playing just his second tournament of the season after coming back from an injury, came in at 225 while fellow senior Turner Howe was at 232.
As a team, Air Force placed 20th with a three-round score of 880. The Falcons' shot a season-best road round of 291 in round one and then beat that mark again with a 285 in round three. The tournament featured seven of the top 40 teams in the nation. California, ranked 26th in the nation, won the tournament with an 805. North Florida, ranked 27th, placed second, while 10th-ranked Oklahoma was third and ninth-ranked Clemson and UCLA tied for fourth.
Air Force's fall season concluded at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational. Air Force is now idle until the Loyola (Md.) Invitational, Feb. 23-25, in Goodyear, Ariz
