
Falcons Win Seawolf Invitational

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Air Force women's gymnastics team captured the Seawolf Invitational this evening (Feb. 3) in Anchorage, Alaska, as it defeated a pair of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foes to improve to 3-2 on the year. The Falcons recorded a score of 193.100 – their second-highest total of the season – to edge Sacramento State (193.000) and defeat Alaska (190.125) for the triangular team title.
Sophomore Anna Salamone captured her second event title in as many weeks, as she matched her career-high of 9.775 to tie for first on the vault. Salamone, who also tied with junior Brittney Reed for the team lead on the uneven bars (fourth, 9.725), was one of three Falcons to finish among the top-half of the field on the vault. Freshman Chloe Camello posted a career-best 9.650 to place fifth, while classmate Brooke Bruder garnered a 9.625 to finish sixth.
The Falcons also accounted for three top-eight finishes on the balance beam and floor exercise. Sophomore Emily Luers scored a 9.800 to earn runner-up honors on the beam, while freshman Cam Barber finished third with a personal-best tally of 9.775 and classmate Lynne Jad placed seventh with a career-best score of 9.725. Senior Jamie Lewis registered a season-best score of 9.800 to place third on the floor exercise, while junior Mariana Murphy and Bruder posted career-best scores to finish sixth (9.750) and seventh (9.725), respectively.
Air Force returns to the Academy next weekend, when they host conference foe Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 10, inside the Cadet West Gymnasium.
