
Air Force Opens Action at Texas Tech Shootout

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Air Force track and field team collected 12 top-10 finishes during the opening day of action at the Texas Tech Shootout in Lubbock on Friday, Feb. 9. Senior John Reynolds and sophomore Megan Irvine paced the first day's group of competitors, collecting top-five placements in the triple jump and 400-meter dash, respectively.
Reynolds surpassed the triple jump's 50-foot barrier for the third time in as many meets, as he posted a distance of 50'3½" to finish fourth, while Irvine earned the same placement in the 400-meter dash after posting a season-best time of 56.35.
Air Force claimed four of the top 10 finishes in the pole vault. Sophomores Connor Stevens and Logan Grizzle recorded equal clearances of 16'0¾" to tie for sixth, while junior Sam Hinegardner matched that mark to finish eighth on tie-breaks and freshman Justin Harmon tied for ninth with a height of 15'7".
Senior Brooks Hardy registered a distance of 56'9¼" to finish sixth in the weight throw, while junior Miguel Molas and senior Robbie Anderson collected that same placement in their respective sections of the 60-meter dash. Molas posted a time of 6.84 in the open section of the night's fastest sprint, while Anderson clocked a 6.99 in the Olympic Development section. Classmate Trent Holmes also competed in the Development section, posting a time of 7.02 to finish eighth.
Senior David Collins placed eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.19 and classmate Tyler Koss rounded out the Falcons' contingent of top-10 finishers, as he matched his career best of 47.49 -- the fifth-fastest time in Academy history -- to finish ninth in the 400-meter dash.
The Falcons return to the Sports Performance Center tomorrow (Feb. 10) for the final day of competition at the Texas Tech Shootout. Action is slated to begin at noon (CT).
