Air Force Fencing With Four NCAA Qualifiers

Air Force fencing had a successful weekend at the 2018 NCAA West Regional Individual Championships at Caltech in Pasedena, Calif., on Saturday, March 10. The Falcons had four fencers qualify for the NCAA Championships, including a pair of second-place finishes.
Leading the way were sophomore Leanne Singleton-Comfort and freshman Matt Goode.
Singleton was the runner-up in the women's saber, going 7-1 in head-to-competition. The sophomore will head to the NCAA's for the third time in her career (is a junior in terms of eligibility after competing one year at UC San Diego).
Goode placed second in the men's epee, and qualified for an NCAA slot. The freshman went 5-3 overall.
Also qualifying were freshmen Mackensie Nechanicky and Brian Swicegood.
Nechanicky placed third in the women's foil and earned an NCAA slot based on her National Qualifier ranking. Nechanicky went 8-4 overall.
Swicegood placed third in the men's foil, earning his NCAA slot. The freshman went 9-3 in head-to-head competition.
Air Force concludes the season at the NCAA Championships, March 22-25 at Penn State in Happy Valley, Penn.
